With all the economical difficulties surrounding as at the moment, it’s essential for absolutely everyone to protect their most valuable assets and cars are definitely among them. There shouldn’t be any need to stress the importance of having auto insurance considering all the possible scenarios that result in damages, both on and off the road. In fact, having car insurance is required by state law in absolutely every US state.

In essence, the driver pays the auto insurance company a certain sum of money called "a premium" for the financial protection that he gets in the case of an accident or an act of God. In either case, the owner of the vehicle has to just file a claim with the insurance company which pays out in fullest the costs for fixing the damages done.

Typically, auto insurance provides two basic types of coverage - collision and liability. Collision coverage is paid in the case of a car accident, theft, damage on the windshield while driving and similar scenarios that fall in the so called "acts of God" category.

Liability is the type of coverage that protects you against property and personal damage (Personal Injury Protection) that you might commit to others as a result of a mishap on the road and you are the cause for it. So when signing the contract, you have to check which types of insurance are covered, what’s included and what not.
